I got some good news from Kristoffer Gansing who invited me to a very cool and interesting panel about spam culture at ISEA Rurh last year : he’s the artistic director for the next Transmediale in winter 2011. One of the topics for this issue is in/compatible aesthetics and there will be a workshop this november in Berlin in order to prepare for the conference. The information is pasted...

I just finished my second collaboration piece with Amusement, a french glossy and trendy magazine dealing with digital leisure for nerdsters, with a good focus on content pieces and great graphics. Actually a student of mine has introduced me to it a few months ago. The particularity of this magazine is that they are willing to ask academic researchers to write for them, which I find pretty bold...

Poétique des codes sur le réseau informatique, a book resulting from research I did back in 2006 when I was studying at SUNY Buffalo (New Media department) has come out ! The book is about literary, artistic and playful uses of code writing (“poetics of code”). If you speak French, please check it out here and spread the good news !
I am a little disappointed because the...

Joel Holmberg directed a workshop for the Net Art class I’m teaching at Université Paris 8 (CEN 1), in collaboration with fellow teacher and researcher Samuel Szoniecki and me. We learned how to make funny things with online services and explored the ways of online presence by creating a fictitious advanced user and observing how its existence is shaped by its many account subscriptions...

I did a talk at the seminar “E-formes” organized by Alexandra Saemmer and Monique Maza at the Université Jean Monnet in Saint-Etienne / CIEREC-Paragraphe, entitled “Le Parergon en territoires e-formes”. My talk notes, “Encodage : du cadre de communication au discours interactif”, about ASCII Art in Usenet signatures, are downloadable here.

I did a talk today at the very cool seminar organized by Laurence Allard for the IRI Pompidou, “Politique et Technologie de l’amateur”, featuring established and young researchers. This seminar meeting, entitled “Hackers, Geek, Otaku, une grammaire en herbe” was featuring Nicolas Auray, who was presenting his research on The Sims’ script kiddies, and me, talking...
